Next time an article pops up about AI becoming a threat to humanity. Remember this. One man felt AI Innovation should be prioritized over the safety of over 340 million people. We had no input. He decided what is best for our kids, moms, daughters, sons, and fathers across the nation.

China has guidelines in place for Emergency Intervention and the Quick Shutdown of Highly Autonomous AI Models. These guidelines are built into China's overall safety guidelines. Not as a law, but part of their technical framework for AI.

So the question becomes. When AI takes over, who has control?

USA vs China

The United States is working on legislation that will require companies to have AI safety guidelines. Without limiting innovation. China has already added Emergency Intervention to its AI Guidelines and continues to maintain heavy controls over its AI technology.

Both Countries will have the ability to shut down their AI if needed. But can we truly say that we have control over AI if we just build a kill switch?

When AI gives incorrect codes for medical billing and other purposes, incorrectly denies claims, prevents prior authorizations from being approved, and gives inaccurate information to medical professionals, we have a bigger problem than a kill switch.

We will lose revenue and put patients' data and lives at risk long before we pull the kill switch. We need to look for ways to control AI before it goes haywire and starts controlling us. Not after.

Conclusion

As AI grows and develops, we must find the right balance between controlling AI and advancing technology. We should not fall into the trap of only building kill switches.

We need to monitor AI, track what it's doing, and control it before it goes rogue and acts against our best interests.
